UNICEF opens its digital channels to the disadvantaged

New Delhi: UNICEF has announced that its website has officially been ‘taken over’ by children. Children were invited to ‘take over’ as part of the activities to celebrate World Children’s Day on 20 November.

The day, set for November 20, marks the anniversary of the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the mobilization of the first World Children’s Day. Children from around the world will ‘take over’ key roles in media, politics, business, sport and entertainment to help save children’s lives, fight for their rights and fulfil their potential.

Between 14-21 November, children are taking over one UNICEF India social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google Plus). Their photos will feature as the UNICEF profile during the takeover. They are using the hashtags #KidsTakeOver #WorldChildrensDay

“It’s a fun day with a serious point. A day for children by children to help save children’s lives, fight for their rights and help them fulfil their potential,” said Yasmin Ali Haque, UNICEF India Representative.
