Our Foundation

OneWorld International Foundation (OWIF) is the governing body of the OneWorld network and the guardian of OneWorld's vision - of a world where resources are shared fairly and sustainably, where human rights are nurtured and protected, and where democratic governance structures enable people to shape their own lives. OneWorld is dedicated to working with others to bring about this vision.

OWIF was established in December 1999 and registered as UK Charity No. 1095287 in January 2003. It comprises the international Board of Trustees, the governing body of the OneWorld network, and the OWIF Director and team.

Aims and objectives
OWIF's aims are:
  • To be the custodian of the OneWorld network’s developing vision, values, identity and creative synergy.
  • To facilitate strategic and intellectual leadership for the network.
  • To promote the network’s vision, values and identity through external representation.

Its objectives are:
  • To promote diversity across the OneWorld network, including in terms of geography, gender, language, and power status (`class’ or ‘privilege’).
  • To strengthen bonds, creative synergy and mutual learning across the network, and to maximize `network advantage’.
  • To ensure good network governance.
  • To provide support, leadership and external representation for the network.
  • To anticipate and address any significant problem that may affect the network.

OWIF Board of Trustees
The Board is composed democratically of trustees nominated (one per centre) by the OneWorld centres.

Since the Board only meets in person once a year, it has appointed an Executive Committee to meet at least four times a year to carry out more immediate tasks.

The Director of OneWorld International Foundation is Peter Armstrong. Meet the team.

OneWorld International Foundation is guided from time to time by the wisdom and judgement of its International Advisers.
