05/30/2006 Su invito del presidente della Camera dei Deputati, On. Fausto Bertinotti, alle 11.00 di ieri mattina sono stati ricevuti Gino Strada, Luigi Ciotti, Alex Zanotelli e Tonio Dell'Olio, primi firmatari dell'appello lanciato alcuni giorni orsono ai parlamentari per chiedere di "interrompere le missioni militari in teatri di guerra e ritirare le truppe italiane dall'Iraq e dall'Afghanistan". Nonostante il silenzio-stampa che ha accompagnato l'appello, ad oggi sono pervenute alcune migliaia di firme tra singoli e associazioni che sono state consegnate al Presidente della Camera. Nel merito dell'appello tutti hanno riconosciuto che, mentre per il ritiro delle truppe italiane dall'Iraq si registra una sintonia da parte del governo Prodi e dell'intera coalizione di maggioranza, diverso è l'atteggiamento sulla missione militare in Afghanistan.

05/06/2006 A poco più di una settimana dalla strage di Nassiriya, in cui hanno perso la vita un tenente dell'Esercito e due carabinieri, ieri un ordigno ha ucciso a Kabul due alpini del contingente di Isaf, la missione internazionale della Nato in Afghanistan, ed altri quattro sono rimasti feriti. Sembra ancora presto per individuare una matrice: secondo alcuni sarebbe opera di al Qaida, secondo altri dei Taleban, che in serata hanno rivendicato l'attentato. Si tratterebbe di un pressing sul Governo italiano, perchè ritiri i contingenti militari, ma anche un attacco ad Isaf in generale, la missione internazionale della Nato, perchè abbandoni l'Afghanistan. "Vittime di una presunta missione di pace" - commenta Aprile online che ricorda come nella 56esima "Relazione sulla politica informativa e della sicurezza", inviata al Parlamento lo scorso mese, la situazione nella zona dove è avvenuto l'attentato era stata già segnalata dall'intelligence come ad "elevata criticità, con una progressiva radicalizzazione delle iniziative di quell'insorgenza dirette primariamente a contrastare la pacificazione del Paese". Insomma, una condizione di alto rischio militare molto distante dalla definizione di territorio pacificato.
