12/21/2006 Il governo afghano pensa di utilizzare aerei per irrorare diserbante nella lotta alle coltivazioni di papaveri da oppio, informa l'Associazione per i popoli minacciati (APM). Nonostante il ministro afghano per la lotta al narcotraffico abbia dichiarato che il governo "avrebbe escluso questa possibilit� accettando solo irrorazioni da terra" ("ground spray"), informazioni ottenute da APM riportano che su pressione degli Usa "l'orientamento � verso l'uso di aerei per la fumigazione". "Il largo utilizzo di diserbanti spruzzati da aerei non solo minaccia la salute dei contadini, ma rischia di mettere gravemente in crisi la produzione di generi alimentari" - avverte APM. La produzione di oppio in Afghanistan � aumentata quest'anno del 60%: "I governatori locali e i baroni della droga concludono i loro affari nel nord del Paese sotto gli occhi delle truppe tedesche l� stazionate senza subire alcun tipo di intervento" - denuncia APM.

IRAN: Stoning for Adultery - More a Women's Issue
