07/28/2005 International agency Oxfam called on US Members of Congress today to reject the Free Trade Agreement between the United States and Central American countries and the Dominican Republic (DR-CAFTA.) Oxfam believes that the agreement, in its current form, will do more harm than good and will endanger the livelihood of many thousands of small farmers who already live in poverty.

07/25/2005 On July 8, the Superior Court of Ontario dismissed a challenge to NAFTA investment rules brought by the Council of Canadians, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers and the Charter Committee on Poverty Issues. While the Court acknowledged that NAFTA's investment regime may compromise Canada's sovereignty, it concluded that it does not offend Canada's constitution. The groups will appeal the Court ruling to the Ontario Court of Appeal.

07/22/2005 El Fondo de fomento al audiovisual de Centroamérica y Cuba, CINERGIA, ha extendido el periodo de recepción de proyectos hasta el lunes primero de agosto, esto significa que los realizadores tienen quince días más para preparar sus propuestas. En esta segunda convocatoria, CINERGIA apoyará proyectos audiovisuales en seis categorías diferentes: Desarrollo de proyecto, Desarrollo de guión, Producción de cortometraje, Producción de largometraje, Distribución y Postproducción. Además otorgará un taller de guión y dos becas en las carreras de Cine y Televisión y Animación Digital. Al igual que en el 2004, distribuirá $110 mil entre los proyectos seleccionados.
