09/05/2007 Medici Senza Frontiere (MSF) ha chiesto alle autorità etiopi di permettere immediatamente ai propri operatori l'accesso alla 'Somali Region' - detta anche Ogaden, una regione dell'Etiopia al confine con la Somalia dove è in corso un conflitto - per portare assistenza alla popolazione. "Nella Somali Region siamo di fronte ad una crisi umanitaria. Le persone vivono nel terrore perché sono intrappolate e spesso bersaglio dei diversi gruppi armati. Chiediamo un accesso immediato alla regione per potere aiutare i civili in pericolo" - ha detto William Robertson, capo missione di MSF in Etiopia. Nelle scorse settimane il governo di Addis Abeba ha espulso dalla regione la Croce Rossa Internazionale (Icrc), accusata di favoritismo verso i ribelli del Fronte nazionale di liberazione dell’Ogaden (Onlf): da alcuni mesi intensi scontri sarebbero in corso nella regione tra esercito e i ribelli impegnati in un decennale conflitto indipendentista.
