Disarmiamo la Repubblica

Mancano pochi mesi alle elezioni politiche dell'aprile 2006 e crediamo sia fondamentale richiamare l'attenzione di elettori e candidati su una politica di ripudio della guerra e costruzione della pace. L'appello promosso dalla Casa per la Pace di Milano e dal Nodo Lilliput Milano, comprende dieci proposte ai candidati che si presentano per l�elezione al Parlamento Italiano.
L'invito a a tutti i gruppi, associazioni, reti del movimento pacifista, e' di diventare co-promotori dell'iniziativa inviando, entro il 15 gennaio, una mail all'indirizzo: addioallearmi@lilliputmilano.org(specificare nell'oggetto: "adesione"). Molto meno positivo il fatto che i soldi raccolti confluiscano su un conto della Banca Nazionale del Lavoro (BNL) che nell'ultimo quinquennio si attesta come la terza 'banca armata' d'Italia". Cos� Giorgio Beretta, della Campagna di pressione alle "banche armate" commenta la maratona per la raccolta fondi per la ricerca promossa da Telethon. "Sarebbe ora che i promotori di Telethon chiedessero alla BNL di chiarire le operazioni che la banca svolge in appoggio al commercio delle armi. Si tratta di un giro d'affari di ben 445,6 milioni di euro nell'ultimo quinquennio con paesi in conflitto come Israele, nazioni altamente indebitate come Argentina, Messico, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh e Filippine e paesi dove le organizzazioni internazionali riportano reiterate violazioni dei diritti umani come Egitto, Malaysia e Brunei" - continua Beretta. Solo negli ultimi due anni, la BNL segnala 5,82 milioni di euro di 'importi accessori' per questo tipo di servizi di cui una consistente parte � rappresentata dai 'compensi di intermediazione' intascati dalla banca.

Sentences for Ovcara Pronounced

12/12/2005 The War Crimes Council of the District Court in Belgrade pronounced the sentences for 14 of the 16 accused for war crimes at Ovcara, near Vukovar. Two persons were released from the charges of execution of prisoners of war in November 1991.
