09/28/2006 Il primo gennaio 2007 avremo una Unione europea a 27: vi entreranno infatti anche Romania e Bulgaria. Ma il presidente della Commissione europea Jos� Barroso ha affermato che dopo di loro sia meglio chiudere la porta. Dal 2000, quando iniziarono i negoziati per l�adesione, la Romania si sforza di mantenere gli impegni assunti: i funzionari di Strasburgo hanno riconosciuto gli sforzi compiuti da Bucarest, soprattutto nella lotta alla corruzione e nella riforma del sistema giudiziario. Romania e la Bulgaria saranno i paesi pi� poveri dell�Ue: malgrado la crescita economica sostenuta, gli stipendi sono aumentati di poco. Tra i ventisette paesi membri che conter� l�UE dal prossimo gennaio, la Romania occupa il settimo posto in base al numero degli abitanti.
