Vietnam: The Agent Orange Lawsuit (archive)
Continued silence of the manufacturers of Agent Orange regarding potential liability for Vietnamese victims together with the increasing bitterness of generations who directly or indirectly were present at sprayed areas during the war forced the victims themselves step forward. A lawsuit was finally presented by 3 families in January 2004 but, after much delay, the case was dismissed by Judge Weinstein in early 2005, to the dismay of humanitarian organisations in both countries.
The legal action by victims of Agent Orange has been dismissed by US Federal Court Judge Weinstein. The decision has been greeted with disbelief by organisations supporting the claim, alongside resolve to continue the fight for compensation.
