12/28/2007 L'associazione ActionAid chiede la scarcerazione di due operatori etiopi, Daniele Bekele e Netsanet Demissie condannati a due anni e mezzo di prigione. Il 24 dicembre i due attivisti stati riconosciuti colpevoli del reato di "provocazione e preparazione" per aver creato le condizioni per eventuali sommosse contro l�ordine costituito: "un reato meno grave di quello di 'alto tradimento' per cui erano stati portati sotto processo - commenta ActionAid che spera che i due operatori possano venire liberati nei prossimi giorni. In modo del tutto inusuale il giudice ha elogiato i due imputati, sottolineando i loro sforzi per risolvere l�impasse politica che aveva fatto seguito alle elezioni del 2005 e li ha descritti come �cittadini coraggiosi che hanno promosso la pace e il ruolo della legge�.

Italia: 40mila in piazza per l'acqua pubblica

12/03/2007 "L'acqua � un diritto, non una merce: ripubblicizziamola!". E' la richiesta della manifestazione promossa sabato scorso a Roma dal "Forum italiano dei movimenti per l'acqua" che ha visto la partecipazione di 40mila persone appartenenti a comitati territoriali e associazioni, forze culturali e religiose, sindacali e politiche per sostenere la legge di iniziativa popolare per la tutela e la gestione pubblica dell'acqua. Un proposta di legge per la quale sono state raccolte pi� di 400 mila firme, ma che al momento giace in qualche cassetto parlamentare anche se il decreto fiscale appena approvato ha bloccato per un anno la privatizzazione dei servizi idrici. Il ministro per la Solidariet� sociale Paolo Ferrero promette che la "ripubblicizzazione dell'acqua sar� uno dei punti della verifica di governo a gennaio".

Porto d'armi: norme pi� rigide in Ue e in Italia

12/01/2007 Importanti novit� per quanto riguarda il porto d'armi in Europa e in Italia. Ieri il Parlamento Europeo ha approvato con una maggioranza schiacciante una direttiva che introduce condizioni pi� rigorose per acquistare e detenere armi da fuoco, prevede un sistema di tracciabilit� attraverso la marcatura unica e impone di istituire un archivio informatico che conservi tutte le informazioni relative al commecio di armi nell'Ue compresi i dati relativi alle importazioni da paesi terzi. Soddisfatte del risultato ottenuto anche le organizzazioni per il controllo degli armamenti. In Italia, intanto, un disegno di legge approvato nei giorni scorsi dal Consiglio dei Ministri, rivede la normativa anche per le armi "regolarmente detenute" potenziando i controlli in materia di acquisto, denuncia, detenzione, custodia e porto delle medesime e introducendo una verifica "almeno biennale" sui requisiti psico-fisici richiesti attraverso un apposito organo collegiale medico presso le ASL.
